WALLER CO. FAIR OPENS THIS WEEKEND

  

The 77th Waller County Fair kicks off this weekend at the Waller County Fairgrounds in Hempstead.

Activities open tomorrow (Friday) with the commercial pen of two show at 10 a.m. and awards at 5 p.m.  They continue on Saturday with the fair parade through downtown Hempstead at 10 a.m., the announcement of the Fair Queen and Little Mr. and Miss Waller County starting at 5:15 p.m., and entertainment from Ella Langley at 9 p.m. and Scotty McCreery at 10:30 p.m.

Thirteen candidates are competing to be named Waller County Fair Queen.  They are Jordan Dozier, representing 4D Mowing; Julia Franz, representing Kountry Kids Project; Ashton Harvel, representing AHUG Foundation; Ashley Hill, representing Town & Country 4-H; Jayme Linseisen, representing Norman Smith Equipment Company; Emma Marino, representing Boys and Girls Country of Houston; Karla-Fay Martinez, representing the Waller County Sheriff’s Office; Kaylee Meader, representing Royal FFA; Samarah Nichols, representing Summerland LLC; Carson Webb, representing Waller County Relay for Life; Makenna Weeks, representing Hanigan and Johnson Orthodontics; Destiny Williams, representing Rosehill 4-H; and Julia Woulds, representing Waller FFA.

Saturday will also have mutton bustin’ in the rodeo arena starting at 4 p.m. and bull riding and bull fighting at 7:30 p.m.  A cornhole tournament will be held throughout Sunday, along with tie-down roping starting at 10 a.m. and the bucket calf show at 10:30 a.m.

Livestock judging next week begins on Tuesday, leading up to the junior livestock and exhibit auction on Saturday at noon.  The carnival opens on Wednesday.

Next week’s fair entertainment lineup includes Donice Morace and Glen Templeton on Thursday, Cody Wayne and Cory Morrow on Friday, and Hayden Haddock and Casey Donahew on Saturday.
