BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO ISSUE SECOND READING OF BUDGET & TAX RATE, HOLD TALKS IN EXECUTIVE SESSION

  

The Brenham City Council will meet again today (Thursday), its second meeting in four days, to formalize adoption of the city’s new budget and tax rate and go over several items in executive session.

Councilmembers on Monday held the first reading for the $91.8 million budget and tax rate of $0.4737 per $100 valuation.  Today will be the second reading for the two items.  The new fiscal year begins on Saturday.

In other action, the council will take up a resolution authorizing the acceptance of public improvements in Phase 2A of the Liberty Village subdivision.  It will also consider a change order to the service agreement with Bassco Services, Inc. for the design, construction and installation of the new fuel farm at the Brenham Municipal Airport.

Afterwards, the council will meet in executive session for three items.  One is discussion and possible action regarding the purchase, exchange and/or acquisition of real property for city sanitary sewer improvements and facilities.  The other two will be discussion on utility competitive matters concerning the city’s gas system and consultation with the city attorney relating to Aviators Plus, LLC v. City of Brenham; Cause No. 27896; 21st Judicial District Court, Washington County.

The council will meet at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
