SOIL, FORAGE TESTING CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY IN WASHINGTON CO.

The Brazos Valley Soil and Forage Testing Campaign has begun for Washington County landowners.

The campaign offers agricultural producers the opportunity to have their soil tested to determine its current fertility and receive a recommendation to improve the fertility required to produce the best crop possible.  The campaign runs through October 31st.

Soil sample bags and submittal forms for both the soil and forage testing are available at three locations: the Washington County Extension Office at 1305 East Blue Bell Road in Brenham, Cattleman’s Supply Inc. at 1850 Highway 105 in Brenham, and Brenham Produce at 1103 South Market Street in Brenham.

The campaign is only intended for soil analysis on agricultural land used for grazing and/or hay production.  A campaign for lawn/garden samples is offered every year in the spring.

The cost for a routine analysis is $8, while a routine analysis with micronutrients is $15.  Producers also have the opportunity to submit forage samples at $5 per sample.  All soil samples, forage samples, and forms must be returned to the Washington County Extension Office.

The campaign is made possible through the Washington County Beef and Forage Committee in cooperation with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Soil, Water and Forage Testing Lab in College Station.

Anyone with questions about the campaign can call the Extension Office at 979-277-6212 or visit https://washington.agrilife.org/soilcampaign.
