The Bluebonnet Abstract and Title Company is displayed a painting in their lobby with historical significance.

The Chappell Hill Historical Society has loaned them a painting from local artist, the Reverend Johnnie Swearingen.

The Bluebonnet Abstract and Title Company is located in the former Brenham Guardian Savings and Loan Building located in downtown Brenham.

The painting, which is signed by Rev. Swearingen, reflects the outside of the building in 1970 where two flags are flying in opposite directions in the forefront and people are blatantly jaywalking in front of the bank.

Swearingen was an artist beginning early in life, and used various types of paint and materials to complete his paintings.

His paintings were purchases by Mr. and Mrs. Don Austin of Chappell Hill.  After Mr. Austin died, his wife donated the paintings to the Chappell Hill Historical Society in 1990.

Swearingen is known for painting both the physical and spiritual worlds in which he lived, making the Chappell Hill Collection a valuable historical document, and gaining him recognition as an important Texas Folk artist.
