BURTON’S SIGSBEE QUALIFIES FOR STATE CROSS COUNTRY MEET
Burton Lady Panther Cross Country Runner Peyton Sigsbee made history at the Regional Meet.
Sigsbee finished 15th individually at the Meet, which was held at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Regional Meet featured 40 schools and 173 runners.
Her finish means that Sigsbee has qualified for the State Cross Country Meet.
She becomes only the second Burton runner to qualify for state, and she is the first female runner from Burton to qualify.
The state meet will be held next Friday, November 4, at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.
Meanwhile, for the fourth year in a row, the Burton Panthers sent a team to the Regional Meet, but unfortunately, they were not among the state qualifiers.
The team consisted of Devlin Douglas, Hunter Hancock, Andre Ortiz, Rodney Taylor-Wolk, Trinity Pope, Kolten Lunbeck, and Thomas Angell.
They competed against 38 teams and were part of a field of 169 runners.
