A Grimes County road rage suspect could be looking at some prison time after being found guilty by a jury.

On Thursday, 52-year-old Blake Jon Arrington was found guilty on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Endangering a Child.

The charges stem from a July 16, 2021 incident in which the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office said that Arrington was trying to run a family off of the road with his pickup truck south of Iola.

A mother and her three young children were traveling north on FM 39 in a Kia Telluride SUV, when a man in a tan Chevrolet truck began chasing them, and trying to force them off the road.

At one point, he cut them off, got out of the truck, and started pounding on the victim’s vehicle with his fists.  He then got back into his truck, spun around, and tried to hit their SUV head-on.

The victim’s husband, who was following his family home in another vehicle, rammed the suspect’s truck, which authorities say brought an end to the chase.

The mother and two of the children testified in court that they felt like they were going to get seriously hurt or die.  The father testified that he did what he felt he had to do to protect his family.

After investigating the scene, the D.A’s Office said that the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office found a palm print on the Kia that they were able to trace back to Arrington.

Arrington faces up to 20 years in prison.  The punishment hearing has been scheduled for November 21.
