BRENHAM CUBS FACE DAYTON IN BI-DISTRICT ROUND

The third season, as Head Coach Danny Youngs likes to call it, has arrived.  The Brenham Cub Football Team opens the 2022 Playoffs with a Bi-District game against the Dayton Broncos.

Brenham is 6-4 on the season, and finished as the runners-up in District 10-5A Division II.  Their only loss in district came on the road last week 54-42 to District Champion Lake Creek.

Dayton is 7-3 overall and finished third in District 9-5A Division II with a 5-2 record.  It was a close race in that district with Fort Bend Marshall winning the Championship with a 7-0 record and Port Neches Groves finishing second with a 6-1 record.

Coach Youngs gave scouting report on the Broncos.

The Cubs are lead by Quarterback Rylan Wooten, who coming into the game has completed 126 of 226 passes for 1,772 yards to go along with 21 Touchdowns to just two interceptions.  He also leads the team in rushing with 176 carries for 899 yards and 11 touchdowns. Wooten said team is looking forward to the chance to avenge last year's first round exit.

The Cubs leading Receiver is Reed Robinson, who has 27 catches for 543 yards and 7 touchdowns.  Robinson predicts that the crowd at Cub Stadium could be the deciding factor.

The defense has been led by Linebacker Ricky Brown this season. While Brown has seen individual success, he is quick to give credit to his teammates.

Cornerback Savion Ragston leads the team with five interceptions this season.  He said the team is ready, and also talked about what Coach Youngs has been telling them.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm tonight (Friday) at Cub Stadium in Brenham.  Join Tommy Lange and I for all the action beginning with the pregame at 7pm on KWHI 1280AM, 101.7FM, and the KWHI.com Main Internet Feed.
