AREA ROUND PREVIEW: BRENHAM CUBS VS. BELTON TIGERS

The Brenham Cubs will face the Belton Tigers in the Area Round of the playoffs later this (Friday) evening.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm at Merrill Green Stadium in Bryan.  KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 7pm on 1280AM, 101.7FM, and the KWHI.com Main Feed.

Brenham beat Belton 42-7 back on September 2 at Cub Stadium.  Cub Head Coach Danny Youngs talked about whether we can expect similar results.

The Brenham Cubs are 7-4 on the season, and coming off of a 42-28 Bi-District win over Dayton. They were the Runner-Ups from District 10-5A Division II.

After a 1-3 start, the Cubs have won five of their last six games.  Brenham is led by Quarterback Rylan Wooten.  Wooten has completed 134 of 240 passes for 1,938 yards (62 yards away from 2,000), and 22 touchdowns to just two interceptions.  He also leads the team in rushing with 202 carries for 1,053 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Cubs' leading receiver is Reed Robinson with 31 catches for 621 yards and seven touchdowns.  Ian Stelter is right behind him with 25 catches for 376 yards and seven touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Belton finished 9-2 on the season.  They are the champions from District 11-5A Division II.  The Tigers beat Northeast Early College 56-0 in Bi-District last week, and they are currently on a seven game winning streak.

Belton is led by Quarterback Ty Brown, a junior, who has completed 136 of 246 passes for 1,992 yards, 24 touchdowns to seven interceptions.

The leading rusher is Shaun Snapp, who has carried the ball 145 times for 1,016 yards and five touchdowns.  Lennox Underwood has 118 carries for 624 yards and eight touchdowns.

Their leading receivers are Garrett Oliveira with 26 catches for 538 yards and nine touchdowns, and Slade Le Blanc with 32 catches for 474 yards and six touchdowns.
