DPS INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH IN GRIMES COUNTY

  

Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that happened yesterday (Thursday) in Grimes County.

According to DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz, the crash occurred just after 4pm on Highway 105 at County Road 204, near Plantersville.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2007 Lexus was traveling southbound on County Road 204, while a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling westbound on Highway 105. The Lexus failed to yield the right of way and struck the motorcycle.

The driver of the Suzuki, 26-year-old Peter Batiste of Spring, was pronounced dead on the scene by Grimes County Precinct Three Justice of the Peace Mark Laughlin.

The driver of the Lexus was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under ongoing investigation.
