FAYETTE CO. DEPUTIES ARREST ASSAULT SUSPECT MOMENTS AFTER ASSAULT OCCURS

  

Fayette County deputies arrested the suspect in a reported assault Thursday night, minutes after the alleged incident took place.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Ryan Meagher and Deputy Holly Smith responded around 7:30 p.m. to a domestic dispute in the La Grange area. 

Fayette County Communications was informed by the victim, who ran to a neighboring house to call 911, that the suspect had fled the scene in a red car.  Deputies were not given a make, model or license plate number.

Approximately 6 minutes after the original call was received, Deputy Jared Michalec located a red car in the vicinity of where the assault had occurred.  Michalec was able to stop and detain the driver, who the sheriff’s office says was in fact the suspect in the assault.

After further investigation, 28-year-old Troy Murphy of Victoria was taken into custody and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.  He was charged with Assault of a Family or Household Member with Previous Convictions and Theft of Property between $750 and $2,500.
