Amazon Prime Air is a new service that allows delivery of products by drone.
According to Amazon, the project has been in the works since 2013, and College Station was chosen as one of the test markets. The other is Lockeford, California.
Back in July, the College Station City Council approved a zoning change to allow Amazon to put its facility at 400 Technology Parkway, which is located near Highway 6 and Rock Prairie Road.
The Federal Aviation Administration released a report saying that the drones will have no significant impact, and not effect the quality of the human environment.
Spokeman Paul Butler told KBTX-TV that they wanted to safely introduce drones to the skies and that while they are starting in these two communities, they are looking to expand over time.
Amazon will alert customers in those two markets as to when they are eligible for delivery.
