BODY OF MISSING A&M STUDENT FOUND

Tanner Hoang

The body of a missing Texas A&M student was recovered in the Austin area on Christmas Eve ending a search that lasted for over a week.

22-year-old Tanner Hoang was found dead in the vicinity of Pennybacker Bridge near Highway 360 at the Colorado River.

Hoang had been last seen by his roommates around 11am on December 16. His family was scheduled to be coming from Dallas to College Station to attend his graduation from Texas A&M.

The family reported Hoang missing when he did not show up for lunch with them before the ceremony.

When they tried to contact him, the family found out that his phone had been turned off.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Hoang’s vehicle had been spotted several times on video.

The car was discovered at the Pennybacker Bridge Overlook on Thursday.

Volunteers organized a search of the area, and on Saturday, the Austin Police Department announced that the body had been discovered.

No foul play is suspected.

While it was not the outcome they had hoped for, Hoang’s family sent out a statement thanking everyone for their support.
