CARRIE GREGOR TO STEP DOWN AS AUSTIN CO. CLERK

Austin County will soon look to appoint a new county clerk, as current county clerk Carrie Gregor has chosen not to serve another term.
Gregor announced on Facebook that while she was re-elected for an eighth term starting in the coming year, she has “decided not to take the oath of office on January 1st, resign and pursue other amazing endeavors.”
In her post, Gregor gave thanks for allowing her the “honor and privilege” of serving Austin County for over 30 years.
Gregor, a Republican, was unopposed in this past election cycle. She first took office after the 1994 general election, in which she defeated longtime Democratic incumbent Dorothy Himly.
Before coming into office, Gregor worked for the Austin County District Attorney’s Office as a legal assistant and victim assistant coordinator.
Austin County Commissioners are expected to make a decision on an appointment in the near future.
