FORMER BRYAN SOFTBALL COACH INDICTED
A Brazos County Grand Jury indicted a former Bryan High School softball coach after he was caught allegedly dipping his hand in the cookie jar.
44-year-old Enrique Luna was charged with theft of property between $2,500 to $30,000 and misappropriation of fiduciary property between $2,500 to $30,000.
Luna was employed by Bryan ISD for 18 years. He was named the Coach of the Decade for the Brazos Valley All Decade Softball Team, and the Coach of the Year for the 2021 All Brazos Valley Softball Team.
Bryan Police say Luna was co-mingling funds intended for the softball program with his own personal funds.
Luna was operating many cash only fundraisers with no accountability as to how much money raised.
An internal investigation by Bryan ISD determined that he owed them $2,200 from a fundraiser, and over $4,500 from summer softball camps that were held from 2014-2021.
He was arrested on May 20, 2022 and released a day later after posting a $40,000 bond.
