FOUR PASSENGERS KILLED IN LAVACA COUNTY PLANE CRASH

Four passengers were killed and another was hospitalized after a small single-engine plane crashed in Lavaca County on Tuesday.

The plane, which was later identified as a Piper Malibu, was carrying the pastor and four members of Harvest Church.  Harvest Church is located in Germantown, Tennessee near Memphis.

Reports indicate the plane went down at 11am in the area of County Road 462 and FM 318 about one mile from the Yoakum Municipal Airport.

In a post on their Facebook page, the church identified the four deceased passengers as Bill Garner, Steve Tucker, Tyler Patterson, and Tyler Springer, all of whom were members of their congregation.

The lone survivor was identified as their pastor, Kennon Vaughn, who was taken to a hospital in Victoria, where he is listed in stable condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
