Blinn College’s Bryan Campus was both the site and the focus of the Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday.
The board received an update on the status of the project to create a new administration building on the Bryan Campus at East Villa Maria Road and Nash Street.
Project Director Mark Feldhake said the intent is to have a central on-campus location for various administrative and student services.
Feldhake said the project is currently in the design stage. He said architects have presented their schematic design to the contractor, who is working on cost estimates to determine where they stand with the budget. The total budget is $30.95 million.
Feldhake anticipates a guaranteed maximum price will be ready to bring before the board when it meets in May. If that is approved, groundbreaking would take place in June. The projected move-in date is February 2025, but Feldhake said the College is working with the contractor to improve that timeframe.
Kirksey Architecture is the design team for the administration building, while the construction manager is Vaughn Construction.
Blinn Communications Director Richard Bray said the project does not affect the Brenham Campus Administration Building, as none of its services are moving to the Bryan Campus. They are all duplicated so that students on both campuses have access to services such as enrollment, advising and financial aid assistance.
