GRIMES COUNTY MAN GETS LIFE IN PRISON
A Grimes County man will be spending the rest of his life in prison after being found guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.
40-year-old Marcus Leshun Sargent was found guilty by a Grimes County Jury on Thursday after hearing three days of testimony.
On July 21, 2020, Children’s Protective Services received a report that Sargent had sexually assaulted a two-year-old female.
Navasota Police Detective Jacob Tielke investigated the report and spoke with an eyewitness.
Texas DPS Captain Rebecca Salazar later interviewed Sargent and confronted him with the eyewitness account. He reportedly confessed to incident.
Sargent was already on deferred adjudication probation for another sexual assault incident that occurred back in 2007, which led to the charge being enhanced.
In that instance, Sargent was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
With the enhancement added to his conviction, that carried an automatic sentence of life in prison.
If sex abuser would get locked up for life they would not get a change to hurt more children. I’m glad those children got justice . Victims please speak up !!!
So he had been charged in 2007 for the same offense? Now another child will suffer the rest of her life. How about the ones that aren’t reported? This is sickening.
