A Grimes County man is going to prison after entering a guilty plea to a sex crime in District Court.

50-year-old Randy Dwane Tomczak pled guilty on Monday to Indecency With a Child by Contact.

Two teenage girls filed a report with the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office back on November 10, 2019.

According to the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, the girls previously befriended Tomczak when he worked with them at the Texas Renaissance Festival.

One weekend, they were at a residence to babysit animals for a friend, and Tomczak went with them.

During the night, one of the victims said she woke up to find Tomczak rubbing her back, and reaching under her shirt. The other victim said he did the same thing to her.

D.A. Investigator Blake Baldobino did a forensic download of Tomczak’s phone where he found pictures of the girls that were said to be, “sexual in nature.”

The trial was supposed to begin today (Tuesday), but Tomczak, who had no prior criminal history, agreed to a plea agreement and was sentenced by Judge Gary Chaney to eight years in prison.

Tomczak will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

District Attorney Andria Bender explained that the plea agreement was done at the request of the victims’ family, who did not want to further traumatize the girls by having them go through a jury trial.

Tomczak is at the Grimes County Jail awaiting transfer to prison.
