CUBETTES SPLIT RESULTS ON FINAL DAY OF TOURNAMENT

The Brenham Cubette Softball Team split their results on the final day of the Dripping Springs Tournament on Saturday.

Della Jasinski struck out nine on her way to a perfect game against the Frenship Lady Tigers.

In the bottom of the second inning, Sarah Mabie reached on a walk, and stole second. Kaylie Rodriguez followed with a double. Kinley Antkowiak then singled Mabie home with the first run of the game. Riley Meyer followed with a sacrifice fly that brought home Rodriguez. Antkowiak would later score on a bunt single by Mckenzie Tiemann. Two batters later, Halle Scheel singled home Tiemann, and Brenham led 4-0.

In the third inning, Kaylyn Rodriguez led off with a single, and later came around to score on an RBI single by Kaylie Rodriguez. That increased the Cubette lead to 5-0.

Brenham then put the game away in the bottom of the 4th. Tiemann and Scheel both walked, and then scored on a two-run double by Kaylyn Rodriguez. Annie Beckendorf followed with an RBI double that scored Rodriguez. Sarah Mabie then put the run rule into effect with a two run homer over the left field wall, and Brenham's lead increase to 10-0.

Brenham got the scoring off to a good start with a solo homer by Kaylyn Rodriguez in the top of the first inning to make it 1-0 Cubettes.

East View got it going in the bottom of the first inning by scoring three runs to take a 3-1 lead.

Brenham got back on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning, Mabie singled. Nevaeh Holmes came in as a pinch runner. Kaylie Rodriguez laid down a sacrifice bunt, but East View snuffed it out and got Holmes at second. Stella Landry singled, and Kyla Garcia ran for her. Tiemann singled, and then on errors by East View, Rodriguez and Garcia both scored. Avery Maurer then doubled to score Tiemann to give Brenham a 4-3 lead.

East View put up five runs in the bottom of the third to re-take the lead 8-4. They would add one more run in the 4th inning to secure the win 9-4.

After Jasinski (4 runs in 1 2/3 innings) and Heidi Busker (5 runs in 1 1/3 innings) struggled against East View, Kylie Baker was called upon to get the final three outs in the fourth.

Brenham didn't manage a run in the fifth as time ran out.

The Cubettes (10-4) come back home to start district play tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6:30pm against Magnolia. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 6:05pm.
