PLEASANT HILL WINERY CLOSES, OWNERS RETIRE
The owners of the oldest winery in Washington County have retired.
Bob and Jeanne Cottle have closed Pleasant Hill Winery after over 25 years of operation. The winery celebrated its 25th anniversary last April.
Pleasant Hill Winery opened in 1997 as Texas’ 27th commercial winery. It was part of the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail and produced over a dozen award-winning wines, all made from Texas-grown grapes.

Bob and Jeanne thanked the public for its many years of support, saying on Facebook that their time with the winery has been “a wonderful adventure.”
As for plans in retirement, Bob told Vintage Texas he wants to sail the “Great Loop Route”, traveling the Gulf of Mexico, around Florida and up the east coast toward the Hudson River, the Great Lakes, Chicago, and finally down the Mississippi River.
The Cottle Family leaves a wonderful legacy. I wish them wonderful adventures in their next endeavors.
