CUB BEATS LAMAR FOR THIRD WIN AT ALUMNI TOURNAMENT

The Brenham Cub Baseball Team run-ruled Lamar 13-3 last (Friday) night at Fireman's Park.

The Cubs got their first run in the bottom of the second inning. Rylan Wooten singled, stole second, and then came home on an RBI double by Barrett Kohring.

Lamar took the lead with three runs in the top of the third inning to make it 3-1 Texans.

Their lead would last until the bottom of the fourth inning when Brenham responded with five runs. Drake Bentke started things off with a single. Wooten and Brady Rau drew back to back walks. Brody Hemann was brought in to run for Bentke. Tanner Reese cleared the bases with a three-run double that put the Cubs back in front 4-3. Brayden Goss came in to courtesy run for Reese. Preston Lee followed with a single that scored Goss. Then, Grant Rogas doubled Lee home. R.J. Ratcliff singled, and then on an error Rogas was able to come around and score another Brenham run. Bentke, in his second at-bat of the inning, singled home Ratcliff to put the Cubs ahead 8-3.

Brenham then put the game away with five more runs in the fifth inning. The Cubs loaded the bases on a single by Gunner Gee, and back to back walks to Rau and Kohring. Tanner Reese had a two run single that scored Gee and Rau. Goss ran for Reese again. Ratcliff walked to load the bases again. Bentke drew a bases loaded walk that scored Kohring. Wooten was hit by a pitch that scored Goss. Gunner Gee reached on an error that scored Ratcliff to enforce the run-rule.

Dawson Keim picked up his fourth win on the hill going five innings, allowing five hits, three runs, only two were earned, did not walk anyone, and struck out four.
