BURTON LADY PANTHERS POUND NORMANGEE 23-1

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team got their Spring Break off to a big start with a 23-1 win over Normangee this (Monday) afternoon.

Reagan Roemer drew a walk to start things off. She then stole second and stole third. Paige Fritsch followed with a double that scored Roemer with the first run of the game. Amaya Williams hit a two-run homer that put Burton up 3-0.

Bailey Glaesmann followed with a solo homer. Aerynn Huntsman was hit by a pitch, and then stole second. Allie Biggs reached on an infield hit, and on the same play Huntsman scored on an error. Biggs stole second and third. She then came home on an RBI single by Jennifer Lopez. Lopez stole second and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Kalli Pohl. Roemer scored Lopez with an RBI single to put the Lady Panthers ahead 7-0.

Fritsch doubled to left, and on an error, Roemer came home to score. Williams walked. Both Fritsch and Williams would later score on wild pitches to give Burton a 10-0 lead after the first inning.

Normangee managed one unearned run off of Glaesmann in the top of the second to make it 10-1.

Burton then put the game away by scoring 13 runs in the bottom of the second inning. Biggs led it off with an inside-the-park homer. Lopez followed with a double. Pohl walked. Melanie Wood singled home Lopez. Roemer was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Fritsch hit an RBI single to score Pohl. Wood stole home, and then Williams brought in Roemer and Fritsch with a two-run single, which made it 16-1 Burton.

Glaesmann doubled home Williams. Huntsman and Biggs walked to load the bases. Glaesmann stole home. Lopez was hit by a pitch to re-load the bases. Huntsman scored on a steal of home. Wood got hit by a pitch. Roemer got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, which scored Biggs. Fritsch singled in Lopez. Williams became the second batter of the inning to get hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and the third overall in the inning, which scored Wood. Glaesmann drew a bases loaded walk that scored Roemer to make it 23-1.

Winning pitcher Bailey Glaesmann pitched the first two innings allowing just one hit, one unearned run, and striking out six. Paige Fritsch pitch a scoreless third before the game was called due to the mercy rule.

Next up, the Lady Panthers will travel to Snook to face the Lady Blue Jays tomorrow (Tuesday) at noon.
