  1. This is Brenham Not Chicago.. This is just the beginning. Lots of people are moving here because of so many free programs. Higgins gives you furniture, if your lucky an openings will pop up in the projects. Left Houston years ago because of crime and theft. So don’t call the police when they steal your tractor or truck because you asked for it. I have faith in mankind and I feel for our families loosing their home and land because of taxes. Rural areas are where to go to get away from the law to. Like I said it’s just the beginning because Brenham doesn’t take care of their business.

    1. I’ve spoken to numerous new “move ins”. They all agreed, they a moved here because Higgins was giving away free furniture.

    2. No one is moving to Bre ham because of free programs. Where did you get this idea from?
      Free furniture?
There are plenty of problems in Brenham, but the bad behavior is generally due to the current residents that are from here, and their relations.
Support your local law enforcement and make sure they are well funded.

    3. That’s exactly what I was thinking when I moved to Brenham seven and a half years ago from out of state. I’m going to move to Brenham for the free furniture. Wow. You have figured it out. Oh no. What to do when everyone else figures out that Brenham is the place for programs and FREE furniture. ??‍♀️?

    4. I wish to address your assertion that Higgins will give anyone free furniture. Only in the most serious cases of need, or in the event of fire or other catastrophic loss, does Higgins provide SOME furniture, and only after receiving a voucher at Faith Mission’s office where one’s particular needs are assessed. We do not furnish entire households; only necessary pieces. One can not just walk into the Higgins Furniture Store and ask for free furniture just because they are new to the area. The sale of furniture and other gently used items at Higgins allows us to be able provide these, and other vital services to those in Washington County who are trying their best to improve their lives, and just need a little help. None of this would be possible without the donations from the hundreds of generous people in our area who know the good works that Faith Mission does for our neighbors.
