SOMERVILLE MUNICIPAL COURT PROVIDING FAILURE TO APPEAR AMNESTY PROGRAM

Somerville residents with outstanding municipal citations that have become warrants have an opportunity next week to work on getting them cleared without penalty.

The City of Somerville Municipal Court is offering a Failure to Appear Amnesty Program from Monday, March 20th to Friday, March 24th.  During the amnesty week, violators of various traffic laws who failed to show up for their day in court will be able to do so, and the failure to appear charge and warrant fee will be waived.

Somerville Police Chief Jake Sullivan says the goal of the program is to provide residents the chance to resolve their matters and restore their driving records.

According to Sullivan, the city has over $500,000 in outstanding warrants and citations.

To receive the amnesty, individuals with outstanding tickets can go to Somerville Municipal Court at 600 Memory Lane between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. next Monday through Friday.  They can also pay fines online at www.somervilletx.gov
