CUBS OF DRAKE BENTKE COMMITS TO TEXAS A&M AS A FRESHMAN

Brenham Cub Freshman OF/DH Drake Bentke is off to a great start this season, and it didn't take long for Texas A&M to take notice.

On Thursday, Bentke announced on Twitter that he had committed to the Aggies.

The post from Bentke read, "I am extremely excited and blessed to announce my commitment to Texas A&M to further my education and athletic career! Thank you to the Texas A&M coaching staff for this opportunity. I would also like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and friends who have all made me into the person and player I am today. Gig'em!"

Bentke, who is in his first year with the Brenham Cubs, has a .388 batting average with one home run, 14 RBIs, a .492 on-base percentage, and a .633 slugging percentage through the first 19 games of the season.

Drake is the son of Matt and Rachel Bentke. His dad, Matt, is a former Brenham Cub baseball player. Drake is also the younger brother of Cubette volleyball player Brooke Bentke, who will be heading to Texas State University this fall.
