SUSPECTS FLEE LAW ENFORCEMENT AFTER CRASH

Authorities are searching for the occupants of a pickup truck that led law enforcement on a two-county chase late last (Tuesday) night.

Sgt. Ryan Meagher with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a silver 2017 Ford F-250 pickup truck on I-10 westbound near Flatonia.

According to Meagher’s report, the vehicle was silver in color, but the vehicle’s registration stated that it was supposed to be white.

The driver of the truck initially pulled over, but as Meagher got out of his patrol unit and started to approach the vehicle, it suddenly sped away from him.

A lengthy pursuit went into Gonzales County and ended the vehicle intentionally crashed into a wooded area.

Several suspected illegal immigrants fled from the vehicle into the woods near the intersection of FM 2814 and FM 420 in Gonzales County.

Deputies from the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office arrived to assist at the scene.

After investigating the crash, it was determined that the truck was displaying a fictitious license plate, and a check of the VIN number showed that was reported stolen out of Brazoria County.

The subjects are believed to be unarmed. Anyone seeing a suspicious person in that area is asked to contact the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office at 830-672-6524.
