FAYETTEVILLE BEATS BURTON PANTHERS 9-1

The Fayetteville Lions defeated the Burton Panther Baseball Team 9-1 last (Tuesday) night.

The Lions scored the first run of the game off of Burton starting pitcher Carson Lauter in the bottom of the first inning. Easton Jaeger singled to left, and then took second on a passed ball. He then scored on a line drive by Travis Gully to make it 1-0 Fayetteville.

Burton would tie the game up in the top of the third. Ryder Biggs singled. He later scored in the inning on a single by Pierson Spies to make it 1-1.

In the bottom of the third, Gully was hit by a pitch from Lauter. Reid Gross reached on an infield single, and then Gully scored on a Burton error. The run put Fayetteville up 2-1.

Fayetteville scored again in the fifth. Jaeger walked and scored on a double by Gully to make it 3-1 Lions.

Fayetteville busted the game wide open with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jack Schley and Keagan Supak drew back-to-back walks to start the inning. Gully singled, and then on a Burton error Schley and Supak scored. Logan Fritsch followed with a single to center that scored Gully. Gross singled, and on another Burton error, Fritsch scored to make it 7-1 Lions.

Chance Konvicka reached on Burton's third error of the inning, which allowed Gross to come home with the eighth run. Jake Kubala singled in Konvicka to make it 9-1 Fayetteville, which would be the final.

Reid Gross picked up the win for Fayetteville. He pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing four hits, a earned run, two walks, and struck out five.

The two teams face off again on Friday night in Burton beginning at 6:30pm.
