PANTHERS DEFEAT FAYETTEVILLE 10-2 TO SPLIT SERIES
After a tough loss on Tuesday night, the Burton Panther Baseball Team bounced back to defeat the Fayetteville Lions 10-2 last (Friday) night at Panther Field.
The Panthers got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning. Pierson Spies had a one out single to centerfield. Chet Fritsch walked. Kaiden Kalkhake hit an RBI single to score Spies with the first run. Later, on a double steal, Fritsch scored. Carson Lauter then doubled home Kalkhake to give Burton a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
Fayetteville scored their first run in the top of the third to cut the Burton lead to 3-1.
In the bottom of the third, Spies, Fritsch, and Kalkhake all singled to load the bases. Lauter was hit by a pitch that brought home Spies. Bryson Biggs brought home Fritsch on an RBI groundout. Ryder Biggs then singled home Kalkhake. Brady Grifin followed with a two-run single that scored Lauter and Biggs. Vicente Veliz reached on a single, and then on an error, Grifin came home to score, and put the Panthers up 9-1.
Burton tacked on an additional run in the bottom of the fourth. Fritsch doubled, and then later came home on an RBI single by Carson Lauter to make it 10-1 Panthers.
Fayetteville managed to get an extra run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 10-2.
Fritsch went the distance on the mound to get the win allowing eight hits, two runs, three walks, and striking out 11.
Next up, the Panthers will host the Snook Blue Jays on Tuesday night at 6:30pm.
