A&M CONSOLIDATED RALLIES TO DEFEAT THE BRENHAM CUBETTES 13-12
The Brenham Cubettes dropped a tough one last (Tuesday) night to A&M Consolidated. The Lady Tigers got a run in the first inning to start the scoring.
In the bottom of the first, Avery Maurer walked, and Halle Scheel singled. Kaylyn Rodriguez followed with a single to bring home Maurer with the tying run. After a double steal (Scheel to 3rd, Rodriguez to 2nd), Sarah Mabie singled home Scheel. Kinley Antkowiak had a two run single that brought home Rodriguez and Mabie to make it 4-1 Cubettes.
Stella Landry reached on an error. Nevaeh Holmes was brought in the courtesy run for Landry. Antkowiak stole home. McKenzie Tiemann doubled to left field. Maurer then hit a two run triple that scored Holmes and Tiemann. Maurer later scored on a passed ball to give the Cubettes an 8-1 lead after the first inning.
A&M Consolidated scored four runs in the top of the 4th inning to cut the lead to 8-5.
The Cubettes got two runs back on a pair of sacrifice flies in the bottom of the fourth by Annie Beckendorf and Sarah Mabie to push the Brenham lead to 10-5.
The Lady Tigers scored in the top of the fifth to make it 10-6.
In the bottom of the inning, Landry doubled, and Holmes ran for her again. Maurer walked. Scheel hit a double to score Holmes, and then Maurer came home on a passed ball to make it 12-6.
A&M Consolidated then came back with one run in the six, five in seventh to tie, and one more go-ahead run in the eighth to win it 13-12.
The Cubettes are tenatively scheduled to play Rudder on Thursday at 3:30pm (3:05pm pregame on KWHI). Weather permitting.
