TWO PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR SHOPLIFTING

Two people were arrested Thursday in separate incidents for shoplifting.

Brenham Police report that Thursday morning at 8:30, Officers were dispatched to a business located in the 200 block of Highway 290 West in reference to shoplifting. Initial investigation revealed a subject, Bobby Ray Simmons, 65 of Somerville, pushed a shopping cart containing two new tires totaling $200.00. Simmons was placed into custody and charged with Theft of Property between $100 and $750.

Then Thursday afternoon at 3:40, Officers were again dispatched to a business located in the 200 block of Highway 290 West in reference to a theft. While in route, the business reported the suspect left location traveling headed East on Highway 290. A vehicle description was provided and was located by Washington County Deputies. All of the reported stolen items (totaling over $600.00) were in plain view inside the vehicle. The passenger, Kenneth Wayne McDonald, 44 of Hempstead, was positively identified as the suspect and was taken into custody for Theft of Property less than $2,500 with 2 or More Previous Convictions. McDonald was also discovered to have an active warrant for his arrest issued by the Texas Department of Pardons and Parole. McDonald was transported to the Washington County Jail where he was booked in.
