Brenham Cub Basketball Player Shaun Ray took the next step in his basketball career this (Thursday) morning as he signed his letter of intent with the Blinn Buccaneers.

Ray is coming off his second straight season of earning First Team All District Honors for the Cubs. He was also honored at the recent Brenham High School Sports Banquet with the Boys Basketball Team MVP Award and the Booster Club Award. Also, last fall, he was elected by his peers as the 2022 BHS Homecoming King.

The Signing Day Ceremony for Ray was hosted by Rev. Randy Wells, a member of the Blinn College Board of Trustees and also a longtime supporter of the Brenham Cub and Cubette Basketball Teams.

Ray talked about what led to his decision to sign with Blinn.

The signing ceremony was held before Ray's family, friends, and coaches in the Brenham High School Gym. Cub Head Basketball Coach Quentin Mason reflected on Ray's time with the Cubs.

Blinn Buccaneer Athletic Director/Head Men's Basketball Coach Scott Schumacher was on hand for the signing ceremony. Schumacher talked about bringing Ray into the Buccaneer family.

Schumacher also told the crowd in attendance that Ray will get to wear jersey #23 (his jersey number in High School) when he joins the Bucs in the Fall.

Ray said that he is looking forward to playing for Blinn next season, and also talked about what it meant to have so many of his family members and friends present for his special day.
