FORMER BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL ASST. PRINCIPAL NAMED HEAD OF HEMPSTEAD HIGH SCHOOL
A former assistant principal at Brenham High School has been chosen to lead Hempstead High School.
Hempstead ISD on Wednesday named LaKesha Morgan as Hempstead High School’s new principal. She had been serving as the campus’ interim principal, and before that was an assistant principal at the school.
Prior to arriving in Hempstead, Morgan was an assistant principal at Brenham High School for six years.
Morgan’s 17 years in education include serving as a school improvement officer, reading/language arts teacher and department chair, and coach for volleyball, basketball, track and soccer.
Morgan graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a master’s in Educational Administration. She received her superintendent certification in 2021 from Lamar University.
Hempstead ISD Superintendent Herbert O’Neil said Morgan “has consistently shown her dedication to our students, staff and community” and is “the perfect fit for this important role.” He said he has “no doubt that she will continue to elevate Hempstead High School to new heights.”
Morgan said she is “deeply honored and humbled” by the trust placed in her and that she is “committed to fostering a culture of excellence, promoting inclusivity, and ensuring that every student has the resources and support they need to succeed.”
