UNITY THEATRE OPENS ‘GODSPELL’ THURSDAY

  

Unity Theatre in Brenham raises the curtains this weekend on a classic musical retelling the Gospel of Matthew.

“Godspell” plays on Unity’s Main Stage beginning tomorrow (Thursday) and continuing through June 25th.  With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by John-Michael Tebelak, various musical parables go along with games, storytelling and comedy to share messages of kindness, tolerance and love. 

A cast of ten characters features Jesus, John the Baptist, Judas, the disciples, the Pharisees and others from the New Testament.

Tomorrow’s preview performance will allow the audience to chat with the cast after the show.  Director Andrew Ruthven will visit with guests prior to the production on Saturday, June 17th

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
