JUNE SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR WASHINGTON CO. & BURTON, DOWN FOR BRENHAM

  

June marked the fourth straight month of growth in sales and tax distributions for Washington County and Burton, but Brenham saw a decline from the year prior. 

Washington County took in $382,776, up 4.88 percent from when it received $364,946 in June 2022.  Through the year so far, the county has collected $2,384,225 in rebates, a 12.46 percent increase from this time a year ago, when it had received $2,119,902.

The City of Brenham’s rebate this month was down 7.68 percent, as it received $723,097 in comparison to $783,285 last June.  The city’s receipts this year are still 2.98 percent above what they were at this time last year, totaling $4,645,608 versus 2022’s year-to-date amount of $4,510,987.

Burton brought in $8,373 in June, an increase of 10.31 percent from the $7,590 it received last June.  Its allocations through 2023 amount to $57,173, up 17.22 percent from the $48,772 taken in over the first six months of 2022. 

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported $1.03 billion paid out by the state in local sales tax allocations this month, up 2 percent from last June and up 7.4 percent collectively for the year.
