MISSING AUTISTIC BOY FOUND SAFE IN WALLER COUNTY

A 14-year-old autistic boy that went missing overnight was found safe on Wednesday by the Waller County Sheriff’s Department.

According to Waller County Sheriff Troy Guidry, the boy ran away from his home in the Oak Hollow community on Tuesday.

Law enforcement searched the wooded area around the home on foot with K-9 units for several hours into the night trying to locate him.

Texas DPS Troopers, drones from the Katy Police Department, and fixed wing aircraft from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office all participated in the search.

There were multiple sightings of the boy late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, but he managed to evade deputies in the heavily wooded area.

Later in the day on Wednesday, a citizen spotted the youth on a game cam and deputies were able to locate him in the woods near his home.

The boy was found in good health and taken into custody.  He was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for a multitude of minor scratches and bites, as well as dehydration.

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office is working with the family to see that the young man gets the help that he needs for his autism.

Sheriff Guidry commended his deputies for bringing the search to a happy conclusion.

He also thanked the other law enforcement agencies and their medical partners for their assistance.
