BELLVILLE LITTLE LEAGUE RECEIVES GRANT FOR NEW LIGHTS AT LCRA

(Bellville Little League)

The Bellville Little League will be getting new lights for their main baseball field.

The new lights are being made possible through a $50,000 grant from LCRA and the City of Bellville.

The LCRA grant along with $31,950 in matching funds from the league will replace the current lighting system with new steel poles and LED lights.

Bellville Little League President Garrett Dornon said that the older lights are not as energy efficient and its going to get to a point where they do not meet Little League standards.

Dornon added that they are constantly replacing bulbs and ballasts, and when all the lights are on during the games, the costs start to eat them up.

Safety and providing a good experience for over 500 players and visiting teams are among the league's top priorities.

Last year, Bellville Little League won the Baseball Field of the Year Award from the Texas Turfgrass Association.

The grant is one of 34 that were awarded by LCRA through their Community Development Partnership Program.

The program helps to fund capital improvement projects in LCRA's service area. It is also part of LCRA's effort to give back to the cities that they serve.
