SUSPECT SOUGHT IN FATAL COLORADO CO. HIT AND RUN
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is asking for help in its investigation of a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian this past weekend in Colorado County.
The crash occurred in Eagle Lake on Highway 3013 near FM 1093 between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 12:15 a.m. on Sunday.
Preliminary investigation from DPS indicates an SUV was traveling northeast on Highway 3013 when it struck a man who was walking northeast-bound and failed to stop and render aid. The man, identified as 50-year-old Alejandro Madrid-Juarez of Eagle Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV is being sought by investigators for questioning. They believe the SUV is likely a Ford with significant damage to the front and passenger side, as evidence collected at the site of the crash includes front bumper parts and grill material.
Anyone – including automotive body shop owners or employees – who may have information on the crash is asked to contact the DPS Houston Regional office at 281-517-1300.
