ERCOT ISSUES WEATHER WATCH FOR NEXT WEEK

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has issued its second Weather Watch as continued high temperatures bring increased demand for electricity.

The Weather Watch is in effect starting Sunday and continuing through Friday, June 30th

ERCOT says grid conditions are expected to be normal, but due to forecasted conditions, operating reserves may be lower.

According to ERCOT’s 6-day supply and demand dashboard, the possibility exists for a new all-time peak demand record next week.  The dashboard shows there is enough supply to meet forecasted demand.

ERCOT issued its first Weather Watch from June 15-21.  During that time, a new June peak demand record was set, with Monday, June 19th reaching 79,304 MWs.  The all-time record of 80,148 MWs was set on July 20, 2022.
