WEIMAR POLICE CHIEF AND CITY MANAGER RESIGN
The City of Weimar is going to have to fill two top positions after a recent pair of resignations.
Weimar Police Chief Todd Jacobs submitted his letter of resignation on Monday, June 12, and that was followed by City Manager Mike Barrow submitting his letter of resignation on Thursday, June 15.
Jacobs, who was a Brenham Police Officer for 25 years, was hired as the Weimar Police Chief in October 2015. Jacobs’ last day on the job will be July 15.
Barrow, whose resignation was immediate, had been with the city for almost eight and half years.
City Secretary Dolores Stoever was named as the Interim City Manager.
According to the Weimar Mercury newspaper, several citizens voiced their concerns for what they felt was a lack of leadership by both men.

The letters of resignation by both men were posted in this week’s edition of the Mercury.
In his letter of resignation that was submitted to Barrow, Jacobs said that he felt this was a forced issue being brought on by one councilman that has made it clear since he took office that he didn’t want him as Police Chief.
Jacobs added that he made promise the day he was hired that if something like this ever happened, he would not make scene, and would just walk away.
He also called Barrow a great mentor, and said that under his leadership, he gained knowledge in all aspects of city government and operations.
In Barrow’s letter of resignation to the council, he said that with the last election came a new direction for the city, and with that new direction he believed it was in the best interest of himself and his family that he resign.
