BRYAN HARVEY DEFEATS WASHINGTON COUNTY INTERMEDIATE BOYS 6-2

The Intermediate (13 year old boys) Baseball Section 1 Tournament opened last (Monday) night in at the Travis Little League Field in Bryan.

In the first game of what is essentially a two out of three series, Bryan Harvey defeated Washington County 6-2.

Harvey's Braxtyn Bustamante led off the bottom of the first with a double, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Logan Garrett to make it 1-0.

Washington County tied it 1-1 in the top of the 3rd, when Kaisen Ashorn scored on a wild pitch.

Harvey re-took the lead on a two-run single by Jace Vernon in the bottom of the fifth that scored Ryder Christiansen and Bustamante to make it 3-1.

Harvey would then add three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Christiansen hit a sacrifice fly that scored Colt Cook.

Washington County added one more run in the top of the 7th. Garrett Hupe walked and later scored on an RBI ground out by Kaden BIrkelbach to make it 6-2, but that was as close as they could get.

Bryan Harvey takes the series lead 1-0. The series continues tonight (Tuesday) with Game 2. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm. 6:35pm pregame on KWHI.

If Bryan Harvey wins, they are the champions. If Washington County wins, they will play one more winner-take-all game tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 7pm.
