LEE COUNTY LOOKING FOR NEW SHERIFF

  

Lee County is looking for a new sheriff following the resignation of Casey Goetz this past Thursday.

Goetz submitted his letter of resignation saying that he was resigning due to personal reasons.

KWHI has learned that Goetz will be taking care of his grandparents. There was no bad blood or ill will. 

His staff was said to be heartbroken that he is leaving with some calling it “a huge loss for Lee County.”

Lee County Judge Frank Malinak said that he was appreciative of everything Goetz did.  Goetz said that it has been an honor to serve the citizens of Lee County as their Sheriff.

Goetz was first elected in 2020.

In accordance with the Texas Governmental Code, while he will not carry the title of Acting Sheriff, Chief Deputy Jordan Mastronardi will act as the administrative officer of the day-to-day operations until a new sheriff is appointed.

The Lee County Commissioners Court is taking applications for Sheriff through Friday at 12 noon. 

Potential candidates for the office must meet constitutional and statutory qualifications for Sheriff in the state of Texas.  Applicants must all live in Lee County.

Interviews are scheduled to begin on Monday, July 10.
