BCDC BOARD APPROVES 2023-24 BUDGET

  

The Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC) Board of Directors approved its budget for the 2023-24 Fiscal Year at its meeting Thursday.

The budget for economic development and recreation items was approved as presented.

Budgeted expenditures for economic development total $1.85 million, up from the $948,234 laid out in the previous budget.  The new total consists of $828,000 dedicated to the James Nutt Boulevard sewer extension in the Brenham Business Center and $118,000 for engineering and design of an extension of Blue Bell Road.

The recreation budget accounts for 13 projects valued at $1.15 million.  Of those projects, the largest are the first phase of improvements at Jackson Street Park for $715,280 and refurbishing of the Aquatic Center’s therapy pool restroom for $125,000.  Funds for the recreation improvements come from local sales tax proceeds.

The board then went into executive session to deliberate regarding real property and associated matters concerning Project Color Guard and Project Deer in the Southwest Industrial Park.  Once regular session re-opened, board members authorized the city manager to negotiate the two property requests.
