FAYETTE, COLORADO COUNTIES ENACT BURN BANS
Two area counties are now under a burn ban.
Fayette and Colorado counties entered into burn bans this (Thursday) morning as the region experiences prolonged, extreme heat and a lack of substantial rainfall.
The bans restrict outdoor burning in unincorporated areas. Fayette County’s order continues for 90 days unless terminated sooner, while Colorado County’s remains in effect until rescinded.
According to the Texas A&M Forest Service’s burn ban map, roughly one-third of the state’s 254 counties are presently under a burn ban.
