ALL THREE WASHINGTON COUNTY TEAMS WIN ON SUNDAY

MINOR GIRLS SOFTBALL STATE LITTLE LEAGUE TOURNAMENT IN EL CAMPO

The Washington County Minor Girls run-ruled Lumberton 10-0 in three and half innings on Sunday night to advance to the Championship Round of the State Little League Tournament.

WC got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning. Kori Boeker and Lilly Collier reached on back-to-back walks. Charley Eberly was called out on an infield fly, but the ball wound up dropping in behind the first baseman, and Boeker came in to score. Audrey Dismukes hit an RBI single that scored Collier to make it 2-0.

In the second inning, Kinsley Wallace reached on an error. Tori Jankowski laid down a sacrifice bunt. Wallace later scored on a second Lumberton error that allowed Molly Felder to reach base. That put Washington County ahead 3-0.

Washington County burst the game wide open with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning. Boeker led it off with an inside-the-park home run. Collier followed with a single, and later scored on an error. Olivia Fuchs had a two run single, Jankowski also had a two run single, and Maybree Ehlert added an RBI single that increased the lead to 10-0.

Wallace started the game and went the first three innings. She allowed no runs, two hits, two walks, and struck out six. Collier pitched the fourth inning and retired the side in order to secure the win.

Washington County will now face Hallettsville tonight (Monday) for the State Championship. WC has to win twice in order to claim the title.

First pitch is scheduled for 6pm. (5:30pm pregame on KWHI)

MAJOR BOYS BASEBALL STATE LITTLE LEAGUE TOURNAMENT IN TYLER

Sunday Night: Washington County 9 Groves National 8 (7 innings)

Washington County trailed 8-2 going into the bottom of the 6th, but came back and tied it. Then, they won the game on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 7th.
