WASHINGTON CO. APPRAISAL DISTRICT OFFICE TO CLOSE FOR TWO WEEKS STARTING FRIDAY
The Washington County Tax Appraisal District will close to the public for two weeks beginning this Friday.
A release from Washington County Chief Appraiser Dyann White says the office closure is for a complete conversion of the appraisal and collections software and for staff training on the new product. The office will reopen on Monday, August 14th.
In December 2021, the appraisal district board of directors signed a contract for a new appraisal and collections software package. The data conversion began several months ago, and the new software is ready to be deployed for the 2023 tax collection cycle. The appraisal district website will also be updated in the coming weeks.
White says their office is becoming “a one-stop-shop for all property tax needs”, as both Burton ISD and the City of Burton are moving their tax collections to the appraisal district. She says the new software and website will add functionality and increase productivity, helping to meet the needs of today and give property owners more tools to monitor and understand their property appraisals.
While the tax office is closed, payments can only be made by mail or through the website, www.washingtoncad.org. Payments will not draft from bank accounts until after the office reopens on August 14th.
