LIFETIME LEARNING HOLDING NEXT LUNCHEON AUGUST 11

  

Lifetime Learning will be holding their next meeting on Friday, August 11.

The location for the luncheon has changed.  Instead of the Blinn College Student Center Banquet Room, it has been moved to The Cannery at 314 East Alamo Street in Brenham. The meeting time is still 11:30am-1pm.

The presentation is entitled, “Violence Against Children: The Full Picture.”

The guest speaker will be Natalie Shoup, who serves as the Industry and Data Lead for the Safe Online Fund of End Violence, which is the only global fund dedicated to making the internet safe for children.

Shoup has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree for Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton.  She also recently completed her Master’s Degree in Education and International Development from the University of Cambridge.

Shoup has an extensive background of working with organizations to prevent victimization and perpetration of sexual violence.

During her presentation, Shoup will address the sexual exploitation of children and young people in the United States and specifically Texas. 

She is going to share statistics and stories, along with short videos, to illustrate the problem and suggest solutions.
