BRENHAM CUB FOOTBALL PRACTICES TO START ON MONDAY

The Brenham Cub Football Team will start practices for the fall season early Monday morning. Because of playing Spring Football, the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams got to wait an extra week before starting. However, they did take part in strength and conditioning workouts this past week.

Varsity and Junior Varsity players are scheduled to report Monday morning at 5:30am with practices lasting from 6-8:30am. The freshmen, who started this past week, will continue to work out in the evenings from 6-8pm.

The Cubs are entering their second season under Head Coach Danny Youngs.

Last year, the team finished with an 8-5 overall record. After starting the year 1-3, Brenham went 5-1, and finished the district in second place. Then, they went three rounds deep in the playoffs beating Dayton and Belton, before losing to eventual State Runner-Up, Port Neches Groves, at NRG Stadium in Houston.

The Cubs will have some holes to fill after graduating 26 seniors from last year's team. However, they have several key returners from last year including Cade Moore, Jabreon Moore, Keith Crawford, Cartelle Brown, Juan Mata, Ivan Salazar, Deontae Martin, Jaylon Ward, Conner Appelt, and Miguel Rodriguez.

Brenham is scheduled for a scrimmage at Cy Park High School on Thursday, August 17, at 7pm. They will then open the season on Friday, August 25, at Cub Stadium in Brenham at 7:30pm.

All of the Cub Football Games can once again be heard live right here on KWHI 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.
