BCDC BOARD APPROVES PROPERTY REPURCHASE, LAND NEGOTIATIONS

The Brenham Community Development Corporation Board of Directors approved a repurchase of property and authorized negotiations for a potential land sale at its meeting on Tuesday.

The board agreed to develop steps to repurchase 2.787 acres owned in the Brenham Business Center by Brenham Kitchens, LLC.

The property was purchased in February 2022 for $139,350, with plans to build onto it.  However, the owner of Brenham Kitchens, Brian Smith, determined he would not be able to build any time in the foreseeable future after researching cost estimates for construction and due to economic concerns, particularly higher interest rates.

After an executive session, board members authorized the city manager to negotiate for a potential land sale regarding Project Color Guard in the Southwest Industrial Park.

Other business on Tuesday included an update about D Bar B Sausage & Meats, also known as Kountry Boys Sausage, regarding a possible expansion to their existing facility at 1909 Longwood Drive.  The expansion is for the processing facility cooler in order to accommodate increased production.

Another update was given about Irby Construction Company’s intent to terminate its lease at 2501 Longwood Drive.  The company said it planned to vacate the property by this upcoming Monday.
