PREPARATIONS ARE GOING WELL AS PANTHERS GET READY FOR OPENER

Due to circumstances beyond their control, the Burton Panther Football Team will have to spend another season on the road. However, that hasn't dampened their spirits, according to Head Coach Jason Hodde.

Hodde and some of his players stopped by the Brenham Sportsline last (Monday) night. While the practices have gone well, the Panthers have had to make some adjustments due to the construction of their new stadium.

The Panthers have also participated in a pair of scrimmages to get ready for the upcoming season. First, they took on Hempstead, who is a Class 3A Division I team, and then they faced off with Shiner, who is a Class 2A Division I team.

Coach Hodde talked about how the scrimmages went.

Hodde said that he likes to play a tougher non-district schedule, which he feels better prepares his players for the district season and the playoffs.

Last year, the Panthers finished with a 13-1 record, and made it to the State Semifinals. Their 2023 season kicks off Thursday night at 7pm at Holland High School. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 6:30pm on 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com
