BRENHAM PLANNING & ZONING TO HOLD NEXT MEETING MONDAY
The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission will hear requests for a zoning change and a specific use permit at its meeting Monday.
The zoning item brought forth by Eric Benitez, Matthew Gene Canatella and Kenneth Phillips concerns a 0.7544-acre property holding three lots addressed as 307, 309 and 401 Peabody Street. The three lots are zoned for B-2 commercial research and technology use, but given their current respective uses as an office building, single-family home and cabinet and paint business, the property owners are asking for them to be rezoned to B-1 mixed residential/business use.
The specific use permit request is from Powerfam Washes, LLC, who wishes to develop a vacant 2-acre tract of land on the east side of the Highway 105 - Sabine Street intersection, which is zoned as B-1 mixed residential/business use. The applicant seeks to build an automatic car wash that would operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and be attended by employees during business hours.
City staff recommends approval of both requests.
The commission will meet Monday at 5:15 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
